GMM Live · San Antonio, TX · January 21–23, 2027

Two days with some of the most successful gym owners on planet Earth.

No influencers, just operators. Two days of some of the most successful gym owners on the planet telling you what's working right now, what they'd skip and what they'd do in your shoes. You leave with a plan to make more money with fewer headaches before you fly home (and probably have just a teeensy bit of fun in the process).

Thursday · Jan21Welcome happy hourOn us.
Friday · Jan22Day oneTactical talks on growing & scaling your gym. Then dinner (plus a drink or two) on us.
Saturday · Jan23Day twoSmall group workshops so you leave with execution (not just a notebook full of ideas you'll never get to).

Why this one's different

Most gym events are a sales funnel with a lanyard.

You know the drill. You fly across the country, sit through eight hours of a guy who's never owned a gym, and the "keynote" ends with a slide that says $20K mastermind, three spots left. Dude, gross.

We asked our clients what they'd actually show up for. They were pretty clear about it, and frankly a little spicy. So we built this around their answers (and no, I'm not going to make you do a group cheer).

Not hereSpeakers selling something from the stage
Not hereSurface-level stuff that could've been an email ("call your leads," cool, thanks)
Not hereCostumes, themes, Tony Robbins energy
Not hereA 400-person ballroom where you're just a badge number
HereOwners who run real gyms, talking about real numbers
HereA small room of owners at your stage, so the person next to you gets it
HereTime to actually build stuff, plus after-hours access to the speakers

Who you'll hear from

The lineup (so far).

Every guest speaker on this stage owns gyms. They sign the leases, make payroll and have been burned by the same stuff you have. They're not here to sell you anything. They're here because they're friends of ours and they're freakishly good at this.

James Pratt

Central New Jersey

James Pratt

Owner, Pratt Personal Training

James started in 2014 with 25 clients in a sublet corner of a football academy in Martinsville, NJ, and a dad who wasn't totally convinced "personal trainer" was a real job. He'd been coaching about 55 hours a week for five years before that. So yeah, he's done the grind.

Today Pratt Personal Training runs five locations, caps groups at six people per coach, and charges what most owners are scared to charge. Members still stay for close to two years on average and have left 300+ Google reviews. He grew past $1.5M on referrals alone, then did the thing most of us never manage: he got himself off the floor and built a team that runs it.

His new-location presales are the ones we point other owners to when they ask what "doing it right" looks like.

John Farkas

St. Louis, Missouri

John Farkas

Founder, Blue Ocean Fitness + multi-unit Alloy owner

John opened Blue Ocean in 2011 in a 1,000 square foot former nail salon, paid for with four credit cards. It was one of the first semi-private training gyms in Missouri. He'd been training clients since he was 19, and he grew it into a bigger space, then a bigger one, with members paying up to $129 a week.

Then, instead of coasting, he signed a four-unit Alloy deal and started stacking franchise locations on top of the independent gym. That gives him a view almost nobody in this industry has: what it's like to run your own brand and someone else's playbook, side by side, at the same time. It's working, too: Alloy just named him its 2026 Franchisee of the Year, out of 150+ open locations.

Ask him how he thinks about his staff now. Short version: "I now look at my team as my clients."

Paul Lapine

Brooklyn + Long Island, New York

Paul Lapine

Owner, Lapine Fitness Studio

When Paul hired us, he was a full-time PE teacher running one small personal training studio in Brooklyn on the side, doing about $4k a month around a teaching schedule. Within about a year, he'd quit teaching.

Today Lapine Fitness runs two studios, Park Slope and Commack, Long Island, doing about $110k a month between them. Commack opened off a presale that pulled 100 signups, and it's already sitting near 100 members, ahead of his year-end goal.

The best part: he basically never visits his first gym anymore. He moved his beautiful family over an hour away, and his original location still runs like a well-oiled machine.

2gyms: Park Slope, Brooklyn and Commack, Long Island

  • Selling 100 presale memberships before opening
  • Getting a gym to run without you
  • Opening location #2 without breaking #1
  • Hiring coaches who never want to leave
CJ Appenzeller

South Jersey

CJ Appenzeller

Owner, ATS Strength + Active Personal Training

CJ built his name training athletes, and he's freakishly good at it. He's trained 1,000+ of them and sent 100+ to D1, and a few went pro. New York Yankees pitcher Ron Marinaccio credits CJ with the fastball velocity that "eventually catapulted me to the big leagues."

Two years ago he launched a second brand, Active Personal Training, alongside ATS Strength in West Berlin. He's already expanded it to four locations (Haddonfield, Medford, Mount Laurel and Washington Township) for a total of five gyms. And this year he hit his first multiple-seven-figure year.

G.R. Hoff

Founder, Gym Member Machine

Hi, I'm the annoying, way-too-wordy, prematurely-graying father of three who put this whole thing together. I started training folks almost 20 years ago, owned a handful of gyms I lived at least 1,000 miles away from, and have spent the last 10 or so years helping gym owners fill their gyms without bait-and-switch offers or high-pressure, high-anxiety sales tactics.

Now we work with 350+ gyms around the world, including some of the most successful gyms on Earth (a few of whom I'm honored to share the stage with this weekend).

I'll be sharing the patterns of success we see across our most successful clients (regardless of model), talking about what's working in the gym industry right now, and helping you bring home a plan to make more money with fewer headaches when you're back at your gym next week.

350+gyms we work with around the world
97%monthly client retention, with an open door to leave whenever the heck they want
3+ yrsaverage client stay (the average agency gets fired in 3 months)
50+GMM clients opened new locations in the past year

  • Lead flow that doesn't depend on gimmicks
  • Sales that don't feel gross

Secret guest speaker

Super secret guest speaker

Multi-7-figure, multi-location operator

Another owner who's scaled past one location and kept the wheels on. Can't say who yet, but trust us, you'll want to bring questions.

What you leave with

Stuff that's built, not stuff to think about.

We asked "would you rather leave with 2–3 things fully built, or a lot to think about?" Exactly zero people picked "a lot to think about." Fair enough.

Your next-location plan

Who runs what, which roles you hire first, and what has to come off your plate before you sign another lease.

Your retention playbook

The touchpoints, reactivation plays and numbers the best operators actually watch to keep members from walking out the exit door.

Your 90-day lead & sales plan

A marketing calendar and follow-up system you can hand to your team on Monday, built with people who've run it at scale.

Receipts from our past retreats

Don't trust us. Trust them.

Text from a client: dude take away everything else, the software, the ads, all the calls... I'd stay just for the retreats. I've done a lot in this industry and I don't think you realize how good the thing you've built here is... see ya at the next one
A real text from a client after one of our past retreats. We cleaned up nothing (clearly).
Client comment: there's no comparison to being in the same room as your peers; the content and workshopping just isn't possible over Zoom
Client comment: got as much out of rubbing elbows with owners in the same boat as from the speakers
Client comment: big goals were celebrated and everyone had a helping hand; to anyone who didn't come, you're missing out
Client post: after the retreat, 8 consults turned into 8 new clients at $420 per month

Why San Antonio

Because I live here. And it's January.

Look, I'm biased. I live here. But late January in San Antonio means highs in the 60s, a walkable downtown and a River Walk you can actually enjoy, which beats whatever you're shoveling out of back home.

It's also a ridiculously easy weekend. Fly into SAT, you're downtown in about 20 minutes, and everything from Thursday's happy hour to Saturday's last dinner is close enough that you won't think about logistics once. We'll handle that part so you can spend your brainpower on your business (and maybe a margarita).

Dates

Questions

The stuff you're about to ask.

Who's this for?

Gym owners who are already making it work and want to make it work bigger: small-group, semi-private and premium PT operators, single-location owners eyeing number two and multi-location owners who want their life back. If you're still figuring out whether people will pay for training, this probably isn't your weekend yet.

Do I have to be a GMM client?

Nope. It's built for our clients first, but we're also saving seats for a few invited gym owners we think belong in the room.

What does the ticket include?

Both days of talks and group workshops, Thursday night's welcome happy hour and Friday dinner with a drink or two (both on us). Flights and hotel are on you, and we'll send hotel recommendations as soon as you grab your seat.

Can I bring someone from my team?

Yep, and you should. Grab them a ticket too: your GM, your fitness director or the person who actually runs the place when you're not there. Two people hearing the same plan beats you trying to explain it on Monday.

Is anybody going to pitch me?

Not from the stage. Speakers agree to that before they get the mic. If you want to talk to us about marketing, cool, find me at happy hour. Nobody's going to chase you to a back table.

What if it's not worth it?

Then you shouldn't pay for it. If day one isn't worth every penny, tell us at dinner Friday night and we'll refund your ticket, no hoops. Stick around for dinner anyway.

What if something comes up and I can't make it?

Full refund until December 21. After that we can't refund (we're on the hook for food and space by then), but you can hand your ticket to someone on your team or put it toward our next event.

Where exactly is it, and where should I stay?

Downtown San Antonio, close to the River Walk. Ticket holders get the venue and hotel details first, so you can book while the good rooms are still there.

P.S. James went from 25 clients in a borrowed corner of a football gym to five locations. John started with four maxed-out credit cards and a former nail salon. Paul built his first gym around a full-time teaching job. CJ went from training ballplayers to five gyms and his first multi-seven-figure year. All four are going to tell you exactly how they did it, and none of them is going to try to sell you a thing at the end.
